Today is Global Wind Day.

Onshore wind is now one of the world's most affordable forms of power generation. Offshore wind has the potential to go even further, but unlocking deep-water sites at scale requires a new approach.

That's why we developed PelaFlex GS, our next-generation hybrid deep-water wind platform solution. Designed to reduce cost, simplify deployment and accelerate the delivery of offshore wind in water depths where floating solutions become prohibitively expensive.

By challenging convention and continually refining our technology, we have developed an approach that can help set a new industry standard for deep-water offshore wind.

Just as importantly, our approach is designed to maximise local content. It’s been a big week for Marine Power Systems.

Following yesterday’s investment announcement, our CEO, Gareth Stockman, and CTO, Graham Foster, have also been in London meeting Energy Minister, Michael Shanks, at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

The conversation focused on the UK’s next major energy opportunity: deep-water offshore wind.

As projects move further offshore, new technology will be essential to unlock deeper waters. Our PelaFlex GS platform has been developed specifically for this challenge and to enable offshore wind deployment in the 60–130m depth range, where traditional solutions are no longer viable and floating approaches introduce significant cost and operational complexity.

With major opportunities emerging across the Celtic Sea, ScotWind and beyond, deep-water wind represents not just clean energy, but a powerful industrial opportunity for the UK.

Immense news for Marine Power Systems. The Welsh Government has announced an £8 million investment in MPS to accelerate the commercialisation of our deep-water offshore wind platform, PelaFlex.

Why does it matter? Because around 80% of the world’s offshore wind resource lies in waters deeper than 60 metres, beyond the reach of conventional fixed-bottom turbines. Unlocking that resource is essential for delivering global net zero targets and long-term energy security.

PelaFlex is designed to do exactly that. A flexible, scalable platform solution engineered to simplify fabrication, installation and marine operations, making deep-water offshore wind viable at industrial scale.

This investment is a powerful vote of confidence in our technology, our team and the opportunity ahead. It will help accelerate commercial deployment and support the development of industrial-scale manufacturing capability, right here in the UK.
