✨Exciting news for Tamworth town centre!

☕Popular café Brew is expanding into a much bigger unit – and adding a pilates studio!

Less than 12 months after opening in one of the affordable Town Hall Place units, Brew is expanding!

The brand new health and wellness café - set up by 19-year-old former Rawlett School pupil Amy Collins - has proved so successful that more space is needed.

She has now signed a lease on a privately-owned unit opposite the Town Hall, once occupied by Bon Marche, but vacant for several years.

As well as enhancing the food and drink offer with an on-site kitchen, more seating and cosy corners, Amy is being joined in the venture by her partner Charlie Edge.

🧘A Tamworth FC player and health enthusiast, Charlie (19) will be creating a pilates studio in the large, open plan, first floor of the premises.

Amy was one of the first tenants to take a space in Town Hall Place, which was designed to encourage new businesses to start up and grow with flexible leases and affordable rents, alongside advice and support from the council.

The aim of Town Hall Place is to help local independent traders test their business models, with the hope they’d eventually move on to bigger vacant units around the town.

Amy said: “I’m so excited! I underestimated just how popular we would be and how quickly it would take off. Within a few months it was clear we needed somewhere bigger. We have eight members of staff already and it’s going really well.

“The council helped me explore other opportunities in the town and put me in touch with an agent. The new unit is perfect as there’s lots of room to grow and hold events.

“We’re currently fitting it out and will hopefully be ready to open later this year.”

Cllr Nova Arkney, Portfolio Holder for Infrastructure and Local Economy, said: “This is great news, my congratulations go to Amy and Charlie for their success and I wish them well on this next exciting stage of their business journey.

“Town Hall Place was designed to bring more variety to the high street by making it easier for independent niche businesses to start up and grow. It’s fantastic to see it working, with Brew now growing and taking a bigger unit that has been empty for years.”

The success of Town Hall Place has led to a similar Community Lettings Scheme with Ankerside Shopping Centre .
