A J Hodgson & Sons Ltd is a family company steeped in history, and has evolved over the past 100 years to become a leading player in the fabrications industry, working with construction companies, architects and contractors to deliver a range of engineering solutions. Grandson of the founder, Alan Hodgson takes up the story:
“After serving in France in the First World War, my grandfather John Fen
dley Hodgson returned to the UK in 1918 to form a business serving the local community as a farrier and blacksmith. My father, Arthur John Hodgson later joined him in this profession and shortly after the Second World War, he took over the running of the firm with six of his seven sons under the trading name of A J Hodgson & Sons. After my father died in 1990, he left three of his sons running the business. In recent years, it became increasingly apparent that the original premises, despite several expansion projects, were no longer of sufficient capacity to undertake our needs for the future. Today A J Hodgson & Sons Ltd employs in excess of fifteen personnel at our new six acre site in Terrington St Clement but is still very much a family affair with four family members employed by the business. Collectively our aims are to maintain the stability of the business, while encouraging growth and expansion for the future, building on the strength of the reputation of our family firm. With a new management structure in place, we have streamlined the production process from initial enquiry to final handover to enable us to meet our customer’s demands for rapid turnaround times, and ensure that our renowned standard of exceptional customer service is always maintained. We have and continue to work alongside some of the UK's largest construction companies including RG Carters, Hills, ARJ, Balfour Beatty, Kier and many more on contract projects all over the UK.
