We are proud to celebrate the professional development achievements of our colleagues at O.C.O, alongside those who have chosen to grow their careers with us.
Considering O.C.O is still a relatively young business; many of our colleagues have been part of our journey since we began in 2010, helping shape the business into what it is today through their commitment, loyalty, and hard work.
Congratulations to Alicia, who has completed her CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate, and Charmaine, who achieved a distinction in her Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship and recognised as Apprentice of the Month by Activate Learning—fantastic accomplishments alongside their full-time roles.
Alicia’s story
Alicia is a valued member of our HR team, and her role extends far beyond policies and procedures. She plays an important part in supporting colleague wellbeing, attracting new talent, and helping people thrive across the business. After moving from Site Administration into an HR Administrator role, Alicia developed strong practical experience and chose to further strengthen her knowledge by completing her CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate with ICS Learn,
Charmaine’s Story
Charmaine leads the Quality Control team at our Avonmouth plant. She has progressed from Quality Control Technician to Quality Control Supervisor and now plays a key role in supporting her colleagues. Balancing her apprenticeship alongside a full-time role and personal commitments has not always been easy but she has shown real determination, supported throughout by her tutor at Activate Learning and recognised as Apprentice of the Month for her resilience to keep going. The programme has helped her build new leadership skills and strengthen the support she provides to her team.
Supporting Career Growth at O.C.O
At O.C.O, we actively support colleagues to develop their skills through professional qualifications, apprenticeships, and ongoing learning opportunities. This includes dedicated study time during working hours, alongside encouragement and support throughout the learning journey. By investing in our people, we are not only supporting individual growth but also strengthening the long-term future of our business with confident teams who help drive success.
When asked what advice they would give to colleagues considering professional development, Alicia said: “Be honest—think about whether the course will support your current role and help you progress. If the answer is yes, then go for it.”
Charmaine added: “It really helps you build new leadership skills and with the support from the tutors, you realise anything is possible.”
Well done to you both.
