SnapLok designed, engineered and patented the original ButtonLok system back in 2001 within the US, since then other rotary power sweeping companies have either copied or modified and then claimed as their own. SnapLok created the power sweeping industry more than 15 years ago and have brought their SnapLok equipment to professional chimney sweeps in the UK, Ireland and all over Europe. The SnapLok range includes flexible power sweeping rods made of solid nylon in 8mm, 12mm, 15mm and 18mm in thickness, various sized rotary heads and brushes, birds nest removers and tar/creosote removal heads, plus a range of adaptors for other rod and brush types. SnapLok also provide a full range of rotary power sweeping equipment for biomass and pellet heating system flues. Use Smoke Pellets to Find the Draught Fault First

A flue that won't draw properly can waste a whole sweep if the cause is a leak or a blockage you haven't located.

Light a smoke pellet at the base and watch where the smoke goes. It shows leakage, blockage and airflow in a way you can see, without guessing.

Choose the pellet to suit the job. The 5g encapsulated pellet gives 15mĀ³ over 30 seconds, while the 8g gives 24mĀ³ over 60 seconds, which leaves more time to trace the smoke. Encapsulated pellets have a finger-grip base and are easy to light.

On a grey day, white smoke can be hard to see. Red is available for better visibility.

Bird nests packed into a flue can stop a standard brush in its tracks. The SnapLok Cable Nest Whip Multi Whips (CW-MP) is built to break them up and clear them.

It carries six stainless steel whips with crimped steel caps: two at 200mm, two at 350mm and two at 450mm. The same head also works on tar and creosote, so it earns its place in the kit bag.

A smoke pellet can tell you whether a flue is blocked before you set foot on the roof.
