What an amazing day out we have had today at Sain Ffagan: Amgueddfa Werin Cymru - St Fagans National Museum of History!

It was fantastic to go on a trip with trainees from both Wood-B and B-Leaf, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

We’re Recruiting a Training Support Assistant

Basis: Part Time - 15 hours per week (requirement to work weekends during busy periods)

Base: B-Leaf - Bryngarw Country Park/Wood-B - Tondu Enterprise Park

In this role, a key focus will be overseeing the day-to-day food production within our B-Leaf allotments. You will take an active, hands-on role in the planning, growing, and maintenance of crops that contribute to Awen’s wider food network. Supporting trainees to develop confidence and practical skills in horticulture will be central to your work, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and thriving in the allotment environment.

Alongside food growing, you will help trainees build wider employability skills through practical training in landscaping, grounds maintenance, and carpentry. You will also support our sister project, Wood-B, and assist with essential grounds maintenance across the Bryngarw Park site. During our busy bedding plant season, you will play a key role in customer service and retail operations.

B-Leaf and Wood-B trainees thoroughly enjoyed a morning out to Maesteg Town Hall today 🎦

They headed to Y Bocs Oren cinema for a private screening of Chicken Run and thoroughly enjoyed the film.

B-Leaf and Wood-B trainees Gavin, Jason & Karl had a great evening attending the It's My Shout Award Ceremony at the ICC in Newport on Sunday.

They enjoyed walking on the red carpet, talking to Rhodri Owen, Andrew Jenkins, Jason Mohammad and Sabrina Lee, and of course watching the award ceremony and seeing themselves and the film they were involved in, on the big screen.

'Different Now', the film trainees were extras in, won Best Drama!

We have recently refurbished the Bryngarw House patio furniture, giving it some well needed TLC ahead of their busy wedding season. A job well done from all the trainees!

Some of the trainees who attend Coleg Penybont - Bridgend College mathematics course are learning through darts!

This activity enables them not only to add numbers, but to double and triple them, and then subtract them from 501.

It is a great course, with certification from Agored Cymru. The learners pictured chose this course themselves, a few of them play darts socially and struggle with the maths side.

Yesterday, we had a creative afternoon making some nature art in B-Leaf!

Trainees enjoyed using leaves, fern and flowers picked from around Bryngarw Country Park to learn how to ink print, creating lovely images on paper and fabric to take home.
