Earlier this month, the government published an independent review into mental health, ADHD and autism. Its findings are sobering: mental distress amongst children and young people has risen substantially, and it isn't simply down to greater awareness.
The review names some of the reasons: fewer places to belong, more loneliness, more pressure, less time for play, rest and nature.
It calls for earlier help, rooted in communities, and for support to follow a child's need rather than waiting for a diagnosis, which often takes years.
Since 2019 we've welcomed over 400 children to Huckleberries, helping them to recover from anxiety, burnout, low mood, or life's challenges, so they can thrive.
We're hoping this review marks a shift towards earlier, kinder support for young people's mental health. We'd love to be part of that conversation💚
