PUT A FACE TO THE NAME 👋
Meet Carl Stewart — our Masonry Manager.
Carl’s been in the stone game for 36 years. He started out as an apprentice at 16, graduated in 1994, and has worked on some pretty special projects along the way, including Chatsworth House and York Minster Piazza & Undercroft.
He’s worked with just about every kind of stone you can think of — sandstone, gritstone, limestone and granite — starting out in banker and site masonry before moving into pricing and management.
These days, Carl’s the one keeping our masonry department ticking along. From managing the masons and sawyers, to pricing jobs, dealing with suppliers and keeping production on schedule, there’s usually plenty on his plate.
He’s also been part of the Trad Stone team for 13 years.
And then there’s the really important stuff…

We’re not entirely sure what keeps him going.
Maybe it’s the stone.
Maybe it’s the caravan.
Or, more likely, those Friday morning butties. 😂🥓
