Many timbers react with ordinary steel, which can cause corrosion and dark staining running down the cladding over time.

Thinking about wood flooring?

Here’s the truth: when a floor fails, it’s rarely because “wood is bad.” It’s usually because of decisions made before it was laid.

Solid or engineered?
Underfloor heating or not?
How dry is the building?

Get those right and a hardwood floor can last decades. Get them wrong and you’ll know about it.

Here’s something most people don’t realise.

When a tree is cut down, around 70% of it never becomes the flooring, cladding or beams you see in a finished project.

Why?

Because trees grow naturally. They twist. They taper. They contain knots and stresses. But buildings demand straight lines and exact sizes.

There’s a lot more going on between woodland and finished board than people imagine.

Check out this effortlessly cool Shed Project, created entirely from our sweet chestnut cladding and sawn timber 👌

Commissioned by Nick Couch and created by Gavin Coyle – the objective was to design and build a compact, carefully detailed shed for storing and displaying gardening essentials, using locally sourced British timber.

We think they have created a super sweet piece of design that will complement its surroundings rather than compete.

Incorporating timber cladding into the design is always a good idea and offers both practical and visual appeal 😍
