Shot blasting in ten slides: how the closed loop works, the IMPACTS Streamer ladder from 210 to 405 mm, what it will not do and the 60 Hz question for ship decks. Machine, collector and shot on one booking. Blast or grind on your last coating job?

28/09/2026

Floor scrapers from walk-behind to ride-on. Ten slides on which machine suits which covering and area, why blade choice matters more than people think and the grinder pass after the strip. Hire and sale. What did your last strip-out fight you on?

27/08/2026

Every coating comes off a slab. The trick is knowing what to send at it. Paint grinds. Glue smears under abrasives; PCD shaves it clean. Thick epoxy wants a scarifier before any grinder touches it. Felt-backed vinyl takes a scraper, then a grinder for the glue film it leaves. All ten slides below; the matrix on slide nine is the one to save for the next strip-out job.

What's the worst thing you've ever had to get off a floor?

The last cut is the one everyone sees. PROXXON's MICROMOT tools put a 50 mm disc on a long neck for the spots a big grinder cannot reach: pipe cutouts, edge chamfers, polishing a visible cut. Four cordless tools share one battery. Long-neck grinder €98.57, the rest at the counter.

What's the tightest spot a big grinder ever let you down in? 01 88 99 000 for the counter.

Anyone else's knees feeling older than the rest of them? Fento knee pads spread your weight down the whole lower leg instead of the kneecap. Certified to EN 14404:2024, with replaceable inlays so you don't bin the pad when the foam goes. From 49.16 euro.

Strap-on or in-trouser, which do you wear? 01 88 99 000 for the counter.

Ever stood at the tooling shelf trying to remember what comes after the ceramics? We put our stocked Easy Fit range in running order: metal segments first, ceramic bridge next, resin ladder to finish the gloss.

Worth saving if you run a grinder for a living. If you are switching off Lavina, this is the tooling range we are keeping stocked, so come and talk to us about your old setup.

What is the one grit stage you always seem to be short of? Tell us below.

Scarifying and grinding solve different problems, and mixing them up either wrecks a slab or leaves a coating half removed. A scarifier hammers the surface fast for coatings, high spots and overlay keying. A grinder gives you fine level correction where the finish matters.

We run the full Von Arx scarifier range, from the VA 10 L for tight spaces up to the VA 30 S and SH for production work.

Send us a photo of the floor and we will tell you which one you need.

We see the same five grinding mistakes on floors every week: wrong bond for the slab, grits skipped in the ladder, no densifier applied, extraction that cannot keep up, and edges left until the last minute.

None of them are skill problems, they are setup and sequence, and every one is avoidable with a bit of planning before you start.

Which of these has caught you out before? Tell us in the comments, and setup advice comes free with every hire.

If you have ever picked a vacuum by how strong it felt in the showroom, this one is for you. Filter class, airflow and vacuum kPa are the numbers that actually matter, and we lined up our Metabo, Delfin and Von Arx units to compare.

We run all three lines in our own hire fleet, so this is genuinely how we spec our own jobs, not a sales pitch for one brand.

What has caught you out with dust extraction before: blocked filters, short hoses, or just the wrong size for the job? Tell us below and we will size the right unit to your tool.

One pad system for every concrete and stone floor.

SupraShine pads carry real diamond in the pad, on the machine you already run. Water only, no chemicals: they clean and polish in the same pass. Regular from €10.63, High Performance with double the diamond load from €14.88, Heavy Duty to strip and restore from €10.63. Four sizes, 230 to 500 mm, and the same price whether you take 1, 5 or 10.

What is under your machine right now: diamond pads or plain scrubbing pads? Tell us below and we will suggest the right grit to start with.

Every grit and size on the shelf in Dublin 10. Call or WhatsApp 01 88 99 000, Concrete Care.
