The same steel can need different protection depending on where it is located.
ISO 12944 classifies environments by how strongly they can cause corrosion:
🏠C3 — Urban and industrial environments
🌊 C5 — Coastal environments
⚓ CX — Offshore and extreme environments
As the environment becomes more demanding, the coating system also needs to become stronger.
The ZINGA® systems shown are:
• C3: ZINGA used as a standalone system
• C5: ZINGA with ZINGALUFER sealer
• CX: ZINGA with ZINGACERAM HS sealer and ZINGACERAM PU topcoat
In each system, ZINGA provides the anodic base layer. Additional layers are then added to suit the level of environmental exposure.
The key message is simple:
Don’t choose a coating system based on the steel alone. Choose it based on where the steel will be used.
