Gardening season is getting into gear and now is a good time to think of ways to maximise the growing space in your polytunnel can significantly increase your yield and efficiency 🌿

🌷Here are three quick tips to achieve this:

Vertical Gardening: Use often wasted vertical space by growing crops vertically instead of horizontally. Install shelves, trellises, or hanging baskets to grow vine plants like tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans upwards. This allows you to grow more plants in the same footprint and increases air circulation and sunlight exposure.

Intensive Planting: Practice intensive planting techniques such as square foot gardening or intercropping. Plant crops closer together while still ensuring they have enough space to grow and have access to nutrients. This reduces wasted space between plants and maximises the use of available area.

Succession Planting: Begin succession planting to continuously grow crops throughout the growing season. As soon as one crop is harvested, immediately replant the space with a new crop. This ensures that your polytunnel remains productive year-round and minimises downtime between harvests.
