Founded in 1978 in Rathkeale, Co. began with just three staff members and one small lorry, serving the local building community in West Limerick. ed. In 1985, the business expanded into Newcastle West, operating from Maiden Street before relocating in 2003 to a purpose-built premises in Desmond Business Park. Today, this location continues to serve trade professionals and DIY customers with a wide range of building materials, hardware, plumbing supplies and home improvement products. In 2007, the company expanded further with the opening of its dedicated Furniture, Flooring & Electrical showroom in Rathkeale. Now spanning over 40,000 square feet, the showroom offers an extensive range of furniture, flooring, bedding, electrical appliances and home interiors products for customers throughout Ireland. In 2009, TOC added two garden centres to the business, further strengthening its position as a complete home and garden destination. From plants and outdoor furniture to seasonal gardening products, the garden centres have become a key part of the business. As shopping habits evolved, TOC continued to invest in convenience and customer service by launching its ecommerce platform, giving customers access to thousands of products online with nationwide delivery and click-and-collect services. In 2023, the business expanded once again with the opening of its Adare Hardware & Homeware store, bringing TOC’s trusted products and service to one of Limerick’s busiest towns and further expanding its retail footprint. Most recently, in 2024, TOC launched its dedicated Plant & Tool Hire division, marking another major step in the company’s growth. The new division offers a wide range of professional equipment including diggers, dumpers, generators, landscaping equipment, breakers, flooring tools and DIY hire products — supporting contractors, tradespeople and homeowners across the region. Today, Tadhg O’Connor Ltd. employs over 100 staff across multiple locations and divisions. From building materials and hardware to furniture, garden products and plant hire, TOC continues to grow by evolving with customer needs while maintaining the values and service that have defined the business for nearly five decades.
