Our builders’ providers, plumbing, electrical and DIY centres have a wide range of stock including wallpaper, paint, carpets, floor coverings, furniture, white goods, household items, giftware, fuel, stoves and giftware, so you are sure to find what you need. The company was founded in 1968 by John Edward Fletcher when he set up an electrical contracting and hardware shop at Upper Main Street, Portarlington. In 1971 John took over the former “Whitehouse Hardware” and moved the business to its current premises where it continued to grow and prosper. A considerable rebuild and extension of the premises took place in 1989, in order to facilitate the construction of the link road around the town of Portarlington. In 2019 a new warehouse facility was constructed on the Link Road this allows us to buy bulk and retain prices in fluctuating markets. 2021 has seen the demolition and reconstruction of a new store, the retail space will extent to over 25,000sq foot with over 8,000 Sq foot storage. The hardware store is currently managed by John Fletcher Junior, the son of the founder. The local community
Fletcher's Hardware supports many local charities and sports clubs in their fundraising endeavours and has been a long term sponsor of a golf classic held each year in Portarlington Golf Club. We endeavour to support the local community by creating jobs for people in the area. Our company currently employs between 100 - 150 people, many of whom come from the locality. This in turn generates and promotes revenue for other businesses in the town as our staff shop and socialise locally. The Topline group
