Regarding Africans being enslaved, Traoré said:
“We must become aware — I am speaking of the African in general, or the Black man — of our history, and of our current situation. Because slavery isn’t over, you know? People are still practicing slavery. They are still catching Black people to go and sell them today, in 2026. So, they don’t consider you as humans. They see you as animals. And why must we behave like animals and just watch them? No. I refuse that. Imperialism has no color (is not just White/European). And we must have the courage to identify it, call it out, and then fight it.“
The power and controversy of Traoré’s words and actions cannot be overstated. No other African leader is saying what he is saying or doing what he is doing, condemning the violence of certain Muslims, defying the powerful Islamic ruling establishment, and calling out the enslavement of Africans (overwhelmingly done by Arab Muslims), even declaring that, “We…must fight it.” His statement, “Imperialism has no color,” is a not-so-subtle attack on Arab Islamic imperialism, fuel for the nearly 1400-year subjugation of Africans...
