LE DAC3 !

🎶LowBeats has published its review of Le DAC 3.

The German magazine highlights the converter's sense of timing and the flow it brings to the music, and sums up the listening sessions as "a knockout in sonic terms".

It also singles out a deliberate choice: no volume control, no selectable digital filters, one filter retained because it was judged the best by ear. Three toroidal transformers, around 120 capacitors distributed across every stage, and a single conversion circuit kept deliberately uncluttered.

Pure digital to analogue conversion. Nothing more.

Rien d'autre.

Separates earn their place by letting audiophiles choose each part of the signal chain independently. Yet the 25 integrated amps readers picked keep closing off the reasons to split those jobs between boxes.

There are 300-watt power stages, pure Class A circuits, tube hybrids, onboard streaming and DACs, modular upgrades, and designs that can later operate as a standalone preamp or power amp. Several even borrow engineering directly from their manufacturers’ separate components.

Across the list, the harder question becomes which advantages still require another box and which have already made their way inside one chassis.
