READ FOR NEWS!
With the warm weather finally returning, it’s time to post my latest work!
But before we talk about the buckler, I want to let you know that I’ve opened a new page where I’ll be posting my jewelry works: . Go check it out—the first photos are out!
Now back to the buckler
This buckler is for a dear client .dcht the same person who bought my very first one a lot of years ago, I think it’s safe to say I’ve refined my technique since then!
It is covered in several layers of leather and fabric impregnated with hide glue and a traditional gesso finish, while the paint is acrylic but with grounded pigments

È da quasi un anno che devo postare questo lavoro! Finalmente mi sono ricordato di farlo.
Questi tre scudi hanno una base in doghe di betulla (produzione esterna), ricoperta di pergamena su tutti i lati e gessata usando solo colla animale e gesso di Bologna.
Le tre impugnature sono riprese da alcune miniature e reperti, e i tre scudi possono essere in qualche modo allineati temporalmente, partendo dallo scudo a goccia fino al triangolare più piccolo.

It’s been almost a year that I’ve been meaning to post this work! I finally remembered to do it.
These three shields have a base made of birch planks (externally produced), covered with parchment on all sides and gessoed using only animal glue and Bologna chalk.
The three grips are inspired by some miniatures and archaeological finds, and the three shields can be roughly placed in chronological order, from the teardrop-shaped one to the smaller triangular one.
