Our Story

The Global Map S.r.l. in January 2017 it incorporated into its structure the production technologies of L.A.C. and S.EL.CA., historic cartographic production companies as specified in the detail.

LITOGRAFIA ARTISTICA CARTOGRAFICA , L.A.C. was founded in Florence in 1949, as a cartographic production company specialized in subcontract work, in particular for public bodies. From the beginning of the 1960s, the usual production activity was accompanied by the creation of a company catalog that today, after more than half a century of uninterrupted activity, is presented as one of the most prestigious and complete in the national cartographic scenario. The different types of maps are suitable for the most varied uses and cover the entire national territory as well as other important geographical areas throughout the world. L.A.C. has created 350 printing plants and is also the only private Italian company and one of the few in Europe to produce cartography in specific relief of the seabed and submerged volcanology. A substantial computerization intervention has allowed to carry out what for cartographic companies has been the most problematic and burdensome aspect of the last years, namely the migration from traditional production systems to computerized ones. Today in fact every production activity, from the project to the lithographic production, is developed with the most advanced cartographic information systems and for this reason, the availability of hardware and software is among the most sophisticated and complete on the market, this has required considerable investments in plants (over € 3,000 million in the last decade) and in the specific preparation of personnel and continuous updating. The workflows, now widely tested and functional, make it possible to maintain a high production capacity, thanks to which in December 2015 the total computerization of the company catalog was completed.

S.EL.CA was founded in 1975 as a company specialized in contract work. All the technical-productive activities and the vast experience acquired in the realization of cartography can be found in the innumerable production of thematic cartography and not that of S.EL.CA. can boast. In particular, the publications of the only "Chromatic Manuals" destined for the homogenization and production of geological and thematic cartography in general are of great technical importance. She is also the author of the design, creation and printing of "Manual Cromatic", of numerous production of pedological cartography and of a vast series of cartography of which she holds a catalog with over 100 titles. Global Map now has a sales network consisting of distributors and resellers, both in Italy and abroad. The products today Global Map are therefore present in the various fields of distribution, at newsstands, national and international libraries.
