The main reason for this war is the use of two different maps.
Cambodia follows the 1907 map, based on the agreement between Thailand and France, made during the time Cambodia was under French colonial rule. Thailand, on the other hand, uses a map they created on their own.
Cambodia has invited Thailand several times to bring this issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), hoping to resolve it peacefully through dialogue and international law. But Thailand has refused.
One of their military leaders even said publicly:
“If you believe your map is correct, if you want the temple and the territory — then fight for them.”
Now think 🤔
If they truly believe they are right, why are they afraid to solve it through legal means?
Thai said that Cambodia fights first, Cambodia said that Thai fights first, can a small country like Cambodia — with 17 million people — really be the one to start a war with a much bigger and wealthier country of 71 million?
