Last year and this year, Brownline UK worked with Peter McCormack & Sons Ltd โ an OCU group company โ on a crucial project on the northern tip of Scotland. A total of four landfall drills were carried out to bring ashore subsea cables connecting the Orkney Islands to the Scottish mainland. โก
The two pairs of parallel HDDs were drilled through extremely hard rock formations and fault zones. Absolute accuracy was required to keep the pilot holes on the planned trajectory and ensure precise punch-outs in the seabed. ๐ฏ
We were able to deliver that accuracy using the Drillguide Gyro Steering Tool. For the landfall exit, we also deployed our latest innovation, Drillguide Autopilot, which gave the client flexibility and autonomy in completing the works. ๐ก
