Musgroves is a household name in Canterbury and is well known throughout the South Island of New Zealand as a pioneer in the trading of quality recycled building materials and joinery. The company started in Christchurch back in 1942 when founder Dave Musgrove began working in general cartage. David was joined by his brother Alf in 1946 after World War II, and Musgroves Bros. The brothers worked i

n the cartage and road contracting industry right up to 1970 with the catchphrase that they would “Move anything anywhere anytime”. In 1969 under the management of Graeme Vickers the company’s work broadened to include demolition and selling of recycled materials. Although the company ceased general contracting work in 1980 it continued on with demolition work for some time later and began to specialise in selling and buying recycled building materials. Today Musgroves continues to provide Cantabrians and people throughout New Zealand with quality recycled building materials and joinery. In addition to our large range of materials kept at our Christchurch yard we also have an increasing range of new products including home insulation, gypsum plasterboard, plywood and timber for most applications. Our aim is to provide customers with high quality products both new and recycled at some if not the lowest prices regularly available. Our many repeat customers are testimony to the value and money saved when shopping at Musgroves. Recycled Wooden Colonial Casement-Opening Window – $195 each

A lovely wooden colonial casement-opening window, measuring 910 x 965mm, that would sit beautifully in a weatherboard home, cottage, sleepout or character renovation.

This one does have some cracking in the external sill, but for the right person that may be a very fixable part of the project. Depending on where it’s going, you could look at repairing the sill with an exterior-grade timber epoxy or filler, sealing and repainting it properly.

A great option if you’re after a character window and don’t mind doing a little tidy-up work to bring it back to its best.

A little bit of shine for your doors.

We’ve just had these NEW Gold Plated Passage Handle Sets arrive at Musgroves, and at $8 each they’re a handy find if you’re freshening up internal doors or working through a renovation.

Each set comes boxed with all the components, including the striker plate, latch, screws and instructions, so they’re ready to go. House lot quantities were available at the time of listing.

We currently have lots of recycled timber windows in stock at our Wigram yard, so we thought we’d bring back this lovely customer project from 2023 to show what’s possible.

Thea purchased this beautiful second-hand leadlight window from Musgroves and used it as part of a full down-to-the-studs bathroom renovation. The old louvered glass window was replaced with this character-filled leadlight — and what a transformation!
