Internal bifolding doors in Victorian Ash, fitted with laminated Hush glass.

The glass is there for the acoustic performance. These doors close the media room off from the rest of the house, and fold right back when it is open to the rest of the house again.

New double hung windows with pulleys and weights, double glazed and draught proofed.

This frame is one of many for the project, getting loaded onto the specialised furniture truck we use for our deliveries to site. This client wanted the joinery to arrive pre glazed, so the tail lift makes loading and unloading the heavier units a lot easier at both ends.

Finished with colonial facings. Authentic style joinery with modern features like double glazing and weather seals, which greatly increase the thermal efficiency. The best of both worlds.

Rosewood interior feature doors, right through this project.

Recessed tongue and grooved panels with colonial mouldings around the perimeter, made to the spec the client wanted. Rustic feature grain, chosen to add character.

Not every door we make is a front door.

The clients on this rural property wanted to make a feature of their wood shed doors.
They were crafted in Rosewood as a tongue, groove and V jointed panelled pair. Hardwearing, and they look good.

The frame stayed. The door and the sidelight are new.

On this Auckland renovation the clients wanted to keep their existing entry frame, so they had us manufacture a new door and sidelight to go into it, made to retain the character of the home.

Both are Western Red Cedar, painted in dark tones. This entry is well under cover and away from damaging sunlight, which is what makes the darker colour the right call here.

A curved top entry frame, made for a farmhouse project in an authentic style.

The doors are Western Red Cedar, set into a Rosewood frame with sidelights and finished in a light stain.

Made to the client's own spec, right down to the stainless.

This Rosewood entry frame was custom made for a refurbished home in Howick. The scoured stainless plate was chosen to pair with their handles, and together they make a real feature of the entry as you come up the driveway.

The wide leaf is a free swinging pivot door with a smaller fixed panel alongside it. A pivot is the right call for a heavier door. Hang that much weight on hinges and they stretch over time, and once they do you are chasing the alignment for the rest of the door's life.

Too big for hinges?

This is the boys preparing a large Western Red Cedar plank door, ready to go into a Rosewood frame. At this scale hinges would give up eventually, so it runs on a FritsJurgens self closing pivot mechanism instead.

These systems are smooth and reliable, and they give years of trouble free use, which is the part that counts on a door someone opens every day for the next thirty years.

It is also the sort of job that only works when it is all made in one place. Drawn, machined and fitted here on Carpenter Road in East Tāmaki, by people who have been doing it for years.
