WE’RE HIRING – HIRE SHOP MECHANIC

We’re looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded Hire Shop Mechanic to join our team in Queenstown.
Our hire fleet covers everything from general DIY and construction tools to access equipment and earthmoving machinery up to 6 tonnes.
We’re looking for someone practical, reliable, and keen to learn, who enjoys problem-solving and working with a wide variety of equipment.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
Servicing, maintaining, and repairing general DIY and construction tools.
Troubleshooting small engines and powered equipment.
Servicing and maintaining access machinery.
Working on earthmoving equipment up to 6 tonnes, including mini excavators and compact machinery.
Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
Inspecting equipment before and after hire to ensure it is safe and ready for customers.
Carrying out preventative maintenance and keeping service records up to date.
Helping keep the workshop, equipment, and yard organised.
Assisting with general hire shop duties when required.
👨‍🔧 What We’re Looking For
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
Experience with construction tools, small engines, access equipment, or earthmoving machinery is an advantage.
A willingness to learn and develop your skills across a broad range of equipment.
A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety.
A full driver’s licence is preferred.
A Class 4 truck licence would be a bonus.
Relevant mechanical qualifications are an advantage, but practical experience and the right attitude are equally valued.

Don't know every brand or machine? No problem.
Training and brand familiarisation will be provided to help you become confident with our hire fleet, equipment specifications, servicing requirements, and maintenance procedures.
We’re looking for someone with a solid mechanical foundation, a can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn.
