Marton Community garden

Marton Community garden Shared garden for the Marton Community, New Zealand. This is always a fun morning and we try and incorporate some learning opportunities as well.

The Marton Community Garden aims to not only provide free organic food for the community but also a space for workshops and information sharing. This includes teaching others how to grow their own fruit, herbs and vegetables, food preservation techniques, hosting fruit tree giveaways and information sharing events. The community garden is also the home of our wagon and our community fr

uit and vegetable stand where people can share their excess food or take what they need. A working bee is held on the second Saturday of the month between 9am – 11am and you don't need any experience or tools if you don't have any. Everyone is welcome kids included, and the garden is fully fenced so come on down we would love to see you there! Marton Community Garden would like to thank Marton Mitre 10 & the Rangitikei District Council for their ongoing support of our work.

This is a great article and we encourage everyone to plant something. Almost everyone who lives in Marton has a patch of dirt they can turn into a garden. Don't aim too high, a 1m x 1m patch can grow a lot and if you need seeds keep an eye on this page.

Think you don't have the time or space to grow anything? Wellington gardener Zoe Barry is on a mission to prove you wrong.

The Marton Community Garden is a non profit charitable trust governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees who gift their time and knowledge to running the garden along with other dedicated volunteers.

The trust's purpose is to develop and maintain a community garden to increase wellbeing and resilence, provide fresh produce, and educate the community in the cultivation of food.

The garden practices organic, spray-free growing, harvesting, foraging and preparation of vegetables, fruits and herbs while caring for the land.

If you have a few hours to spare, feel free to join us at our monthly working bee every 2nd Saturday of the month from 9am-11am at 18 Humphrey Street, Marton. Snacks provided!

Check out these LITTLE CUTIES! A kind volunteer has planted us, but without labels, so we’re having an identity crisis. We could be banana capsicums, in which case we are ready to harvest. Or we could be jalepenos and still have some growing to do. Can you help identify us?!

Good afternoon and Happy Friday! Thank you to those who generously donate excess fruit and vegetables to the food trolley. We occasionally have other items left on the trolley such as movies with cover images not suitable for younger viewers and would ask that only food be shared at the garden. Enjoy this beautiful sunshine and see you at our working bee tomorrow morning from 9am-11am!
