This photo is from an underfloor area during a Healthy Home Assessment in Whanganui, this is a clear reminder of why a vapour barrier is important, especially under homes with enclosed foundations.

When moisture is trapped under a house, it can create the perfect conditions for mould, fungi, and dampness to spread. Over time, this can contribute to wood rot and allow moisture to move up into the home.

A ground vapour barrier helps reduce moisture rising from the soil, keeping the underfloor area drier and supporting a healthier, more energy efficient home.
