Today marks the end of an incredible chapter in my life as I say goodbye to my role as a builder with Richard and Nikki Guildford Stewart of The Craftsmen Ltd. It’s a bittersweet moment, filled with both sadness and excitement as I prepare for the next step in my journey.
Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the privilege of building stunning, architecturally designed homes as part of Richard and Nikki’s talented team here in Taupō. This time has been nothing short of transformative for me, both professionally and personally.
In these past couple of years, my wife and I made Taupō our home, took on the challenge of renovating our house, celebrated our marriage, and welcomed our beautiful twin boys into the world. Through all these milestones, Richard and Nikki’s unwavering support has made this season of life even more special.
From giving me extra time off when our boys were born to checking in on us with follow-up visits after I returned to work, their kindness and care have gone above and beyond. Add to that amazing work functions, regular team breakfasts and catchups, a supportive and fair workplace, and a culture that truly values people—working with The Craftsmen has been a pleasure.
I have to also make a big thank you to my mates at work who have been there since day one. Clinton Reedy and Brad London, you've been there as I turned from an Auckland commuter to a South Waikato hunter (self-proclaimed)! You've shown me patience and kindness, a positive outlook, and a what bloody good builder looks like! Most importantly, you've given me an enjoyable place to go when I've left home every morning.
I am so grateful to Richard, Nikki, and the entire team for making these years memorable and for setting such a high bar for what a workplace can be.
Here’s to all the incredible memories, friendships, and homes we’ve built together. Thank you, Richard, Nikki, and the team for everything.
