M needed a simple fence added to his new deck in order to keep his mokopuna from tumbling off into the bushes! So he called Handyman Rob, got a quote, and it was done and dusted yesterday. Needless to say, M is very happy indeed. Also, his grandchildren will now no longer come inside covered in dirt and bushes!

However, two things. One, due to not being a spring chicken any more Handyman Rob works for 1.5 days a week. If you need something done urgently that may be a problem, but call anyway. Two, Handyman Rob is having his hand fixed up in surgery on Monday so will not be able to do jobs for three weeks. However, you can call to talk about things and get them booked in.

Handyman Rob had the pleasure of helping Plunket step up. Safely. Their old outdoor steps were too old and risked breaking so HMR was asked to assess and repair, or replace.

I assessed, and replaced. Brand new steps, solid as a rock, looking good.

Sometimes people just want to update their fittings. HMR just updated these fittings in a bathroom and loo. The orange glow on the towel rail was due to the top I was wearing!

It’s important to make sure you use good quality fittings, not the cheapest ones (they’re thin and tend to loosen up too easily) and to make sure you screw into the timber framing behind the gib or use good quality, strong wall plugs.

And I don’t wear a mask while painting, but I do use masking if necessary to get a nice straight edge.

Mind you, I’m pretty good at cutting in so straight paint edges are not a problem.

Problems with your kitchen or bathroom hinges?

For some reason, last week I had to help four customers either fix or replace their hinges. They don't last forever.

The hinges, I mean.

HOWEVER, did you know there are all kinds of different hinges, so getting the right one isn't easy.

There are 90degrees, 115 degrees etc and there are different holes, screws and rebates used.

Even if your hinge holes are loose, I can fix em.

S had a beautiful old Grandmother clock from her Grandparent’s home that she inherited. A lovely old, wooden, ornate beauty.

So, as well as putting new window latch pads onto her aluminium windows to stop them rattling, and putting up an outdoor shelf, Handyman Rob hung the old clock where it now takes pride of place.

By the way, someone recently asked me why I had so many lovely handyman customers. I said, Well if you are good at doing a wide range of things then you can help people with a whole lot of small jobs in one visit.

Happy New Year to you all. I thought I would put a quick post up to say that I am not working as a Handyman until the end of January. I have had quite a few enquiries in the last few days, which is understandable, but I need a little time off.

Any enquiries from the last week of January onwards will be very welcome. Even the dogs agree it’s time for a break.
