Michelin has revealed Uptis - the world’s first airless tire that never goes flat. Instead of air, it uses flexible composite spokes made of rubber and fiberglass-reinforced resin that flex and hold their shape perfectly. No more blowouts, punctures, or pressure checks - just smooth, worry-free driving every time.

Co-developed with General Motors, Uptis has already proven itself on real roads in Detroit with the Chevrolet Bolt EV. It’s safer, cleaner, and more durable than traditional tires. Even better - it could reduce millions of tons of global tire waste caused by flats and early replacements.

Michelin plans to roll out Uptis for electric cars and delivery fleets in the coming years... a major leap toward safer, smarter, and greener driving for everyone. The future of tires is airless - and it’s almost here!

Better call Sulco / NAPA for a new battery and do a solid for your customer!

This is a 14-year-old Toyota Prius hybrid battery, and as you can see, it has heavy corrosion on the bus bars (the metal connections between cells).

This vehicle was towed in for a no-start condition, and the scan showed a hybrid battery deterioration code. When checking individual cell voltages, readings ranged anywhere from 0 to 17 volts, which is a clear sign of an internal issue.

This difference in voltage is caused by the heavy corrosion you see here. Corrosion creates high resistance, and when resistance increases, less current and voltage can pass through.

Now, some might think “Can’t you just clean off the corrosion and make it work again?”
Technically, you could clean it, but it won’t solve the real problem.

Here’s why 👇
The corrosion is caused by potassium hydroxide, which leaks from the inside of each cell as they age. Over years of charging and discharging, the heat buildup damages the internal seals of the cells, allowing this corrosive liquid to escape. Once that happens, the cell not only leaks but also loses some of its internal electrolyte, meaning it can’t hold charge properly anymore.

Cleaning the terminals might make it look better, but you’re still left with damaged, leaking cells that will continue to fail and overheat.

At this point, the proper fix is to replace the entire hybrid battery pack, ideally with a new voltage sensor as well. Anything else is just a temporary band-aid… if it even works at all.
