The company found its beginning in 1969, when its chairman Jesus P. Disini, a former employee of Republic Chemical Corporation whose major accomplishment was to launch Pioneer Epoxy in the aluminum tube packs, decided to go into the business of manufacturing and marketing Styrofoam ice boxes. The company’s name then was HOLIDAY INDUSTRIES which was also the brand name of the products. A manufactur
ing facility was rented in Barrio Pineda in Pasig, while Disini’s residence at Barrio Kapitolyo was used as the office and the warehouse of the products. Business was brisk and lucrative as the company was known to deliver the products the day after the order was made. Former colleagues in Disini last company joined his staff when he launched this venture. As such, the quality of its products was at par or even better than its competitiors. In 1973, differences with the owners of the manufacturing facility forced Disini to go into another line of business in order to save his employess jobs and the business contacts that were established. He then went into the manufacturing of Epoxy products, Polyvinyl acetate glues, and Plastic Resin powder glues. The same key success factors of the Styrofoam business was applied to this new one. As such, the reliability o fthe next day delivery was very useful to a lot of manufacturing companies who could schedule its production accordingly. In 1974 the company was formally incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission and was called EMJAY CHEMICAL CORPORATION.
