High-density polyethylene or HDPE is one of the most used plastics in our day to day. HDPE is present in everyday objects such as bottles, containers, toys, helmets, and all kinds of household objects and in numerous industrial applications.

In addition to its countless uses in the home, the use of pipes of this material is common also in sewage systems and in agriculture. Its advantages allow it to also be used for construction, liquid and gas conduction systems, mining applications and energy and petrochemical uses.

We know that HDPE is currently used across different industries. But what are the advantages of using high-density polyethylene pipes over other materials?

1.- Low weight

HDPE Corrugated Pipe is extremely light, compared for example with concrete, due to the density between 0.93 and 0.96 g/cm3, and are easy to transport and handle. Fewer machinery resources are required for installation compared to heavier tubes, lowering the cost of installation.

2.- They do not rust

HDPE Pipes are high molecular weight polyolefins, so they have a non-polar structure, which gives them excellent resistance to chemical agents. Thanks to their chemical inertness, they are resistant to inorganic acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric, etc.), alkalis, detergents, stress reducers, mineral oils, or fermentation products.

3.- Do not corrode

The properties of HDPE pipes are not altered in the presence of corrosive soils, acid soils with a low pH level or high sulfate content. They do not present rust, mold or oxidation problems, nor are they affected by algae, bacteria or fungi.

4.- Long Life Index

Properly maintained, HDPE Pipes have a service life up to 100 years. HPDE Corrugated pipe is designed mainly to work underground, meaning that weather becomes a low damaging factor for the life-service.

5.- Smooth Interior Wall

HDPE Corrugated Pipe has a smooth inner surface wall which prevents scaling of materials and prevents reducing the inner diameter od the pipe.
