In this project, Alkosto aimed to build a shopping centre using local contractors and materials to reduce transportation and minimize its environmental impact. A major challenge of the project was constructing a basement retaining wall with integrated columns to enhance stability, all within a tight excavation where crane use was not possible and wet site conditions prevailed.

The local contractor, García Vega S.A.S., had no prior experience with MEVA systems, so MEVA specialists provided on-site training and technical support. This enabled the team to quickly adopt the AluFix lightweight aluminium formwork, which could be installed by hand and was well suited to confined spaces. Its durable and rigid frames ensured safe handling and reliable performance, even in difficult conditions.

Despite the complexity of integrating large columns into the retaining wall, the versatility of the AluFix system allowed the structure to be formed without additional systems or custom solutions. The project delivered a high-quality architectural concrete finish suitable for the basement parking area, successfully demonstrating how local collaboration and technical expertise can overcome challenging construction conditions.

The MonoWal prop head allows the MonoWal system to be used easily as slab formwork, supported by walers and props and securely held in place by the prop head’s spikes.
