ایک عام غلط فہمی یہ ہے کہ Concrete خود ہی مکمل طور پر واٹر پروف ہوتا ہے۔ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ مضبوط نظر آنے والے Concrete کے اندر بھی باریک مسام اور راستے موجود ہو سکتے ہیں، جن سے پانی آہستہ آہستہ اندر داخل ہوتا ہے۔

چھت مسلسل بارش، کھڑے پانی اور موسم کی تبدیلی کا سامنا کرتی ہے۔ اگر پانی Concrete کے اندر داخل ہوتا رہے تو وقت کے ساتھ سیپج، نمی، پینٹ اور پلاسٹر کی خرابی اور سریے میں زنگ لگنے کا خطرہ بڑھ سکتا ہے۔

اکثر پائپ کے اردگرد خالی جگہ کو عام سیمنٹ اور ریت کے مسالے سے بھر دیا جاتا ہے، یا صرف اوپر سے سیلنٹ لگا کر یہ سمجھ لیا جاتا ہے کہ پانی کا راستہ مکمل طور پر بند ہو گیا ہے۔

لیکن مسئلہ اندر رہ سکتا ہے۔

عام سیمنٹ اور ریت کا مسالا خشک ہونے کے دوران سکڑ سکتا ہے، جس سے پائپ کے اردگرد باریک خلا بننے کا امکان رہتا ہے۔ اسی طرح صرف اوپر سے سیلنٹ لگانے سے نظر آنے والا خلا تو بند ہو سکتا ہے، لیکن پائپ کور کی گہرائی میں موجود خالی جگہیں مکمل طور پر نہیں بھرتیں۔

یہی چھوٹے راستے بعد میں پانی کو کنکریٹ کے اندر جانے کا موقع دے سکتے ہیں۔ اگر نمی سریے تک پہنچ جائے تو وقت کے ساتھ سریے کو زنگ لگنے، کنکریٹ میں دراڑیں پڑنے، کنکریٹ کو نقصان پہنچنے اور اس کی سطح اکھڑنے کا خطرہ بڑھ سکتا ہے۔

اس لیے پائپ کور کو صرف اوپر سے بند کرنا کافی نہیں۔

A washroom pipe core may look sealed — but the real problem can remain hidden inside.

Ordinary cement-sand mortar may shrink, while surface sealant may only close the visible gap. Internal voids can still provide a path for water into the concrete, increasing the risk of steel corrosion and concrete damage.

Multicap 401
انہی باریک مساموں اور پانی کے گزرنے والے راستوں کے اندر کام کرتا ہے۔
یہ راستے اتنے باریک ہوتے ہیں کہ نظر نہیں آتے، لیکن انہی کے ذریعے نمی کنکریٹ یا پلاسٹر کے اندر آگے بڑھ سکتی ہے۔

یہ ان راستوں کو block اور restrict کرنے میں مدد کرتا ہے، جس سے پانی کا جذب اور اندر تک پہنچنے کی صلاحیت کم ہوتی ہے اور کنکریٹ یا پلاسٹر کی Water Resistance بہتر ہوتی ہے۔

Concrete and plaster may look solid, but they contain microscopic capillary pathways through which water and moisture can pe*****te and travel within the material.

Multicap 401 works within these fine capillary pathways, helping to block and restrict water movement. This reduces capillary water absorption and improves the water resistance of concrete and plaster.

It is especially useful in areas with high exposure to water or moisture:

• Basements
• Swimming Pools
• Water Tanks
• DPC / Plinth Beams
• Foundations
• Retaining Walls

In basements, swimming pools and water tanks, even small pathways for water can eventually contribute to seepage.

In DPC and plinth beams, reducing capillary absorption helps control rising moisture that can lead to damp walls, efflorescence, plaster damage and paint peeling.

Dosage: 1 kg Multicap 401 per 50 kg bag of cement.

Multicap 401 can also be used as a Capillary Waterproofing Coating on suitable cementitious surfaces.

واش روم کے مکمل فرش کو پانی سے بھر کر جوائنٹس، کونوں اور پائپ کے اردگرد تمام اہم جگہوں کو چیک کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ کسی بھی ممکنہ سیپیج کا بروقت پتا چل سکے۔

ٹیسٹ کے دوران نیچے والی سطح اور اردگرد کے حصوں کا بھی معائنہ کیا جاتا ہے۔ 72 گھنٹے کے بعد فائنل چیک کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ یہ تسلی ہو سکے کہ واٹر پروفنگ سسٹم درست کام کر رہا ہے اور ٹائل لگانے سے پہلے کہیں سے پانی لیک یا سیپیج نہیں ہو رہی۔

The complete washroom floor is flooded, while joints, corners and pipe pe*******ons are carefully checked for any signs of seepage.

During the test, the underside and surrounding areas are also inspected for possible leakage.

After 72 hours, a final inspection is carried out to confirm that the waterproofing system is performing properly before tile installation.

Washroom waterproofing is not just about applying a coating.

A reliable system starts with proper surface preparation, because a clean and sound surface provides better adhesion for the waterproofing layer. Pipe cores and pe*******ons must be properly filled, while floor-wall joints and corners need special treatment because even a small untreated gap can become a path for seepage.

After these critical areas are prepared, a Cementitious Waterproofing Coating is applied with continuous coverage across the floor and required lower wall areas.

But the process is still not complete.

Before tiles are installed, a Flood Test should be carried out to check joints, pe*******ons and the ceiling below for any hidden seepage.

Seepage often starts from critical areas such as corners, drains, pipe cores, and floor-wall joints.

Even a small untreated gap can allow water to move beneath the tiles and later damage walls, plaster, paint, or the ceiling below.

A complete washroom waterproofing system should include proper surface preparation, correct filling of pipe cores, treatment of joints and corners, continuous waterproofing coating, and finally a Flood Test before tiles are installed.

Once tiles are fixed, hidden seepage becomes much more difficult and costly to locate and repair.

Is liye Pipe Core Filling sirf grout bhar dene ka naam nahi. Pehle weak material remove karna, proper grinding aur cleaning zaroori hai. Clean aur sound surface ke baad core ko Non-Shrink Grout se properly fill kiya jata hai, taake shrinkage ki wajah se dobara gap create na ho.

This filled gap can still let water in — and most people don't know why.

A pipe pe*******on may look completely sealed from the outside, but seepage can still develop from the same spot months later.

The reason? Shrinkage.

Ordinary cement-sand mortar shrinks slightly as it dries. That tiny gap around the pipe is all water needs to find its way in.

The fix: prepare and fill pipe cores properly with a suitable Non-Shrink Grout.

Before filling:

Remove loose and weak material
Grind and clean the surrounding surface
Confirm the core area is sound and ready
Fill the gap completely with Non-Shrink Grout
Inspect the pe*******on before applying the waterproofing system

This matters most around washroom and kitchen pipes, roof rainwater pipes, water tanks, and any pipe passing through a slab or wall.

Waterproofing isn't just about coating. It's the small details — like pipe pe*******ons — that make the real difference.

Have you ever noticed these fine cracks appearing on fresh concrete?

These are called Plastic Shrinkage Cracks, and they can develop within the first few hours after concrete is placed.

When fresh concrete is cast, bleed water naturally rises toward the surface. But during hot weather, strong winds, or low humidity, surface water can evaporate faster than bleed water can replace it.

As a result, the top surface starts drying and shrinking while the concrete underneath is still fresh. This uneven shrinkage can create fine cracks across the surface.

These cracks may look minor, but they can create pathways for water ingress and may affect the long-term durability of concrete—especially in water tanks, terraces, roofs and exposed slabs.

So how can we prevent them before they develop?

In Part 2, we’ll discuss practical precautions during concrete placement, including evaporation control, timely curing and proper protection of fresh concrete.

Planter Waterproofing – Part 3 | 72-Hour Flood Test

Applying the waterproofing coating is only one part of the job.

Before adding soil, plants, or final finishes, we also need to make sure the waterproofing is actually working properly.

That’s why, after completing the planter waterproofing, we filled it with water and carried out a 72-hour Flood Test.

During the test, we checked the planter floor, corners, joints, wall connections, and also inspected the ceiling below for any sign of leakage or seepage.

This step is very important because even a small untreated gap can later allow water to pass through. If that moisture keeps entering the concrete, it can eventually reach the reinforcement steel and lead to rust, cracking, concrete damage, and costly repairs.

Result: 72-Hour Flood Test — PASS
No visible seepage was found.

Good waterproofing is not just about applying a coating. The details matter, and proper testing gives confidence before the planter is finally finished.

مٹی اور پودے لگانے سے پہلے یہ دیکھنا بھی ضروری ہے کہ واٹر پروفنگ واقعی صحیح کام کر رہی ہے یا نہیں۔

اسی لیے کام مکمل ہونے کے بعد پلانٹر کو پانی سے بھر کر 72 گھنٹے کا فلڈ ٹیسٹ کیا گیا۔

اس دوران فرش، کونوں، جوڑوں، دیوار کے ساتھ ملنے والی جگہوں اور نیچے والی چھت کو اچھی طرح چیک کیا گیا، تاکہ کہیں سے بھی پانی رسنے یا نمی کے آثار سامنے نہ آئیں۔

ایک چھوٹی سی کمزور جگہ بھی بعد میں سیپج کا سبب بن سکتی ہے۔ اگر پانی مسلسل کنکریٹ میں جاتا رہے تو وقت کے ساتھ سریے تک پہنچ سکتا ہے، جس سے زنگ، دراڑیں اور کنکریٹ کو نقصان پہنچنے کا خطرہ بڑھ جاتا ہے۔

نتیجہ: 72 گھنٹے کا فلڈ ٹیسٹ کامیاب
کہیں بھی سیپج نظر نہیں آئی۔

اچھی واٹر پروفنگ صرف کوٹنگ کا نام نہیں۔ صحیح کام کے ساتھ آخر میں اس کی جانچ بھی ضروری ہے۔
