🏠 **A COLLAPSING CEILING, A VERY LUCKY CAT, AND A COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION IN JUST 2 DAYS!**
Sometimes a simple phone call turns into something much bigger.
Our client Miguel contacted **Viking Constructions** urgently after part of his bedroom ceiling suddenly collapsed, sending rubble crashing down onto his bed.
His cat had been sleeping there moments before. Thankfully, the cat escaped unharmed. 🐈
But what caused it?
💧 **THE HIDDEN PROBLEM**
According to Miguel, a telecommunications cable installed by MEO had not been properly sealed where it passed through the roof gutter, allowing rainwater to enter the ceiling.
When we opened up the damaged area, we discovered another serious problem: the old timber structure had extensive termite damage.
What looked like a small ceiling failure revealed a much bigger issue.
In many ways, Miguel was fortunate the problem was discovered before more of the structure deteriorated.
🔨 **THE VIKING SOLUTION**
Our team got straight to work.
✅ Opened up and removed the damaged ceiling materials.
✅ Addressed the compromised timber structure.
✅ Rebuilt and reinforced the ceiling framework.
✅ Designed the new structure with a lower ceiling height, allowing for a potential future attic conversion.
✅ Installed and finished the new ceiling.
✅ Re-levelled and restored the floor.
⏱️ **THE RESULT? JUST 2 DAYS!**
From a damaged, unsafe room to a clean, rebuilt space in only 48 hours.
And here's the part we're particularly proud of.
Rather than simply replacing what was there before, we considered Miguel's future plans. The new construction was designed with the possibility of turning the attic space into a study one day, subject to the necessary structural checks and approvals.
**We don't just fix today's problems. We think about tomorrow's possibilities.**
Miguel was delighted with the result, and we're pleased we could help when he needed us most.
