What became the Cementaid group of Companies in 1954 was established in Perth, Australia in 1946. The Cementaid Group
was founded by Peter Aldred, DFC who was born in Luton, England and
served in the RAF during World War II. Aldred’s interest and research into advanced concrete technology led him to being recognized as one of the Industry’s
pioneering developers of admixtures and additives for enh
anced concrete performance. After 4 years of research and development, Everdure Caltite was launched in 1958 and to this day the proven formulation has remained unchanged. As a result of the advanced performance and value of its admixtures and surface impregnations, technical service centres and production plants soon spread throughout Australia and expanded into Asia, then Europe, North America and the Middle East. The Group is dedicated to helping produce better quality concrete, and a number of products now acceptable world-wide had their world origin in our group's research laboratories. The Company has specialized in original research, development and manufacture of reliable concrete enhancing products, the sole business.
The Growth……. Aldred went to Singapore in 1956 where he obtained an order for £A8,OOO worth of products. This was followed by an order worth £A17,000 and additional large orders from Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and the Philippines. Later in the same year, the company opened an office in Adelaide (South Australia) and Cement Aids (SA) Pty. was formed. A factory was erected in
South Australia soon after. The company moved to Sydney in 1957, when Cement Aids (NSW) Pty. Rapid growth followed, with the formation of Cement Aids (Qld) Pty. in Brisbane and Cement Aids (Vic) Pty. in Melbourne.
