Thank you for participating in last weekend's lockpicking workshop!

⚠️ Only 2 slots remain for June 13.

Question - Could you open a lock without a key?

On 13 June, LocksportSG is running a beginner-friendly lockpicking workshop in Singapore where you'll learn how locks actually work, how lockpicks manipulate the internal components of a lock, and how to open your first practice lock.

In fact, many participants are surprised by how quickly they make progress once they understand what's happening inside the lock. This is something that online tutorials fail to cover, and sometimes even mislead.

All tools and training locks are provided.

Whether you're looking for a unique hobby in Singapore, a new challenge, a practical skill, or simply something different to do during the June school holidays, this is your chance to discover the fascinating world of locksport.

"Wait, you can legally learn this?" 🤯

That's the number 1 question most people say when they find out what we do.
Since our May workshop had hit capacity, we are rolling out another one in June.

At our LocksportSG workshops, you’ll learn:
• how locks actually work (pin tumbler and combi locks)
• how lockpicking tools are used (not just randomly brushing the pick inside)
• different techniques anyone can try
• why locksport is a legitimate global hobby

BLACK HAT ASIA 2026 is a wrap! 🔐🔥

Huge thank you to everyone who came for LocksportSG’s Lockpicking Village. The crowd was incredible, amazing energy and great vibes all around.

We had so many great conversations — from people keen to learn lockpicking (yes, our workshops are open 👀) to folks who saw our media feature and came to check us out. The enthusiasm and warmth from all of you really made this year really special.

We also debuted our new challenge where participants had to accumulate points via picking various locks, and it was a blast! The final round even came down to a sudden death showdown! 🤯

Thank you again and see you next year!

We're featured on the local news! 😀
(Eng Subtitles are available in the video, turn on cc)

Super proud to see our niche hobby featured in the media. What started as a random curiosity turned into meetups, then workshops, and now a growing community of people who just love understanding how things work (and yes… picking them too 🔓).

Locksport has always flown under the radar here, so really thankful to the producer and @8视界新闻新加坡 8world News for the feature!

How easy is it to open most padlocks in Singapore?

Padlocks are everywhere in Singapore: bicycle racks, storerooms, construction sites etc. Many carry labels like “anti-pick” or “high security”, yet offer little resistance once their internal mechanisms are understood.

Heavier does not mean safer. Shiny packaging does not equal engineering. But in a market with little transparency or independent testing, appearance often substitutes for real security.

Most consumers don’t buy locks expecting to defeat informed attackers. Thus, there is little incentive for manufacturers to redesign what still sells. Locksport hobbyists in Singapore study commonly used local locks, demonstrate repeatable weaknesses and share knowledge responsibly to advocate for better design.

Singapore Is Safe—But Our Locks Are Stuck in the Past.

While cybersecurity has evolved rapidly, physical locks in Singapore have barely changed in decades, relying on obscurity rather than real security.

Look at HDB gates, padlocks at bicycle racks, or even modern smart locks. Beneath updated designs and digital interfaces are often the same mechanical cores and weaknesses that existed generations ago. These systems were never designed to withstand informed scrutiny—only casual interference.

In Locksport, the ethical study of locks, reveals why obscurity fails. When designs rely on secrecy, only attackers benefit. When systems are openly studied, security improves. Cybersecurity learned this lesson years ago. Physical security has not.

A lock should remain secure even when everyone knows how it works—except for the key. Until then, our locks will keep changing on the outside, while staying the same on the inside.

Join us on 24 January 2026, for our workshop as we explore such concepts together: edit - full capacity
