Why are fasteners so often overlooked?

In a project, attention naturally goes to the bigger, higher-value items. But sometimes, the smallest components can have an important role to play.

Jason, our founder, shares why this is still one of the biggest challenges in the fastening industry.

What if choosing the right fastener was about more than simply finding one that works?

For years, fasteners have often been treated as a simple commodity — buy what is available, install it, and as long as it holds everything together, it works.

But there is more to a fastening solution than that. Understanding the application, performance and requirements behind a fastener can make a real difference.

In this video, our founder, Jason, shares what he saw as a gap in the industry and why knowledge, education and designing fasteners that work have always been an important part of our approach.

FM Approval is one of the most misunderstood terms in the roofing industry.

It is common to see products described as "FM Approved fasteners", but under FM 4471, approval applies to complete roof assemblies, not individual fasteners. Every approved assembly is tested as a complete system and documented in RoofNav, FM Global's official approval database.

Understanding this distinction is essential for architects, consultants, contractors, and project owners specifying roofing systems where FM compliance is required.

Understanding the system is just as important as selecting the right fastener.

The heading process is a critical stage in screw manufacturing, where raw wire is formed into the basic shape of a fastener through cold forming techniques.

By applying high pressure within precision dies, the screw head is formed with consistent geometry and dimensional accuracy. This process directly influences drive performance, installation efficiency, and the overall structural integrity of the fastener.

Maintaining tight control during heading ensures uniformity across production batches and supports reliable performance in real world applications.

At Engineering Edge, every stage of manufacturing is carefully managed to deliver fasteners that meet strict quality and performance standards.
