🔎 In semiconductor processes, compressed dry air (CDA) systems, and various process air applications, dew point is commonly used to evaluate the moisture content of air. As a result, many people assume that a lower dew point always indicates better air quality. However, the goal of dew point control is not to achieve the lowest possible value, but to meet the requirements of the application.

💧 Dew point represents the amount of moisture contained in air. The lower the dew point, the drier the air. If the dew point is too high, it may lead to condensation in pipelines, equipment corrosion, or reduced process stability. However, once the required level of dryness has been achieved, further reducing the dew point may not provide additional benefits and can instead increase energy consumption and operating costs.

👍 By using the THS88MAX and THS88ECO dew point transmitters to monitor changes in air dew point, operators can better understand the dryness condition of compressed air or process air and verify whether the system remains within the target dew point range.

More importantly, cold air must be evenly distributed to each rack and equipment area. If localized airflow is insufficient, return airflow is poor, or hot air becomes trapped, localized overheating may still occur even when the overall airflow volume is adequate.

👌 By using the FTS140 or FTS34 / FTS35 air velocity transmitters to measure airflow velocity within ducts and supply air areas, operators can verify whether cold air is effectively delivered to equipment zones and observe airflow distribution conditions inside the data center.

👉 In addition to airflow volume, differential pressure monitoring also affects the operating efficiency of air-cooling systems. By using the PMM330 differential pressure transmitter (indoor type) to monitor pressure differences across filters and room pressure conditions, operators can identify changes in filter resistance and verify whether airflow conditions remain normal, helping prevent reduced air supply efficiency caused by filter blockage or abnormal pressure conditions.

If coolant flow becomes insufficient, circulation becomes abnormal, or pipeline resistance increases, heat exchange performance may be affected, leading to rising equipment temperatures.

🤗 For coolant circulation monitoring, the FTC06 Temperature and Flow Transmitter can simultaneously measure water flow rate and liquid temperature, helping verify whether coolant is flowing steadily through CDUs, cold plates, and heat exchange systems. When air velocity becomes too high, stable laminar airflow may turn into turbulence, causing settled particles to become suspended again and negatively affecting cleanliness control.
