A great afternoon catching up with my friend Jeanne. She drove down from Raleigh to pick up her honey order from me at High Octane coffee. We spent the afternoon chatting over some James Creek Cider.
We met by happenstance 2 years ago, while she was visiting the local bridal boutique. She's since married and about to celebrate her one year anniversary. Once a Dees Bees customer, you become family! And sitting there chatting, another customer from the farmers market stops by.
Yeahhhhh, for good friends in the Dees Bees family.

Long read, but if you like random connections, this is it.

I saw a bumper sticker this week, it said, "We are all connected".
Last year I did a few posts about random connections that ive had since starting this honey farm.
Lets back up til last year before i retired.
I met a gentleman that worked there where i worked, albeit a different dept. In a normal day, our paths would not cross, but on this day, we were both in the cafeteria at the same time. He was real chatty with folks, laughing and generally a positive person. Not sure who engaged first, but i told him a random joke and he laughed uncontrollably. I told him i didnt usually share my funny side with folks i didnt know, so i introduced myself.
I told him that i woke up that morning and thought i was clown....... Because i was feeling funny! ๐Ÿ˜‚
We talked bees a minute, and he told me how he nor his mother had ever tasted honeycomb. The next day i took him a little container with a few sample pieces.
That night as im bottling honey, i get a call. Its him, Stephen. He was over the top about the honeycomb, but moreover, so was his mother. She was so grateful, she made him call me so she could tell me herself how much that small gesture meant to her.
Now, ff 2 years.
I run into KFC to grab a picnic box for a friend who had recently had a death in the family.
The cashier, a young guy, sees my shirt and comments about it being a bee farm. I concurred and gave him a few details which he was genuinely interested in. A very engaging and well-rounded young man.
I told him I'd bring him a bottle by the next day so he could enjoy some fresh raw honey. He quickly replied he'd put some on one of those KFC biscuits.
I missed the next day and the next. Stopped by to see when he was working again and it was yesterday.
I stopped in and presented him with a small bottle of honey, a button and some stickers.
He says, my dad knows you. Im like who is your dad. Hes like hold on ima bout to face time him.
No way! It was Stephen, my guy from 2 years ago. Man what a coincidence.
Like father, like son i suppose.
We chatted a minute and talked about life and retirement, etc.
What a way to come full circle!!!!!
We ARE all connected!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't make this up. Just had a call from a gentleman in Knoxville, TN, in the cardiac unit at the hospital, recovering and looking for some purple honey!

On a side note- if there is any question about my listed price for the purple, i adjust it based on my perceived quality of the product. Having a lab background, im overly analytical and love to assign objective descriptions to things. Last year was a lighter purple where as the previous year it was so purple it looked almost black.
No, my purple wasnt 75$ last year and prob wont be this year if i have any.
I usually put the price that high after im sold out in order to minimize the phone calls.
Yes, all year long, i get calls even though the inventory says "sold out". The price of being famous i suppose.

Not much, maybe a cell or two, but a speck nonetheless.
Definitely nothing to get excited over or make a huge production on, but an update as promised.
No way to know if there will be more. Nothing to do but wait.

5 oclock in the morning, not a soul in sight,
getting my bees to their new home
to further their survival plight.

Always something to do.
