Most well pumps don't wear out. They get murdered.

A submersible motor is rated for roughly 100 to 300 starts per day, total. Push past that and the starting capacitor cooks. The bearings get hammered. The thrust pad on the bottom of the motor wears flat in a fraction of its design life.

The usual culprit is a waterlogged pressure tank. A healthy tank holds an air cushion that lets the pump fill it once, then sit quiet while you draw water. When that air bleeds out through a failed bladder, the tank drops from 40 gallons of usable storage to less than two. Every flush, every glass of water, every dishwasher cycle restarts the pump.

Check your tank with the pump off and the system depressurized. The air valve on top should read 2 PSI below your cut-in pressure, usually 28 PSI for a 30/50 system. If you press the valve and water sprays out, the bladder is torn. Replace the tank before the pump pays for it.

Bigger tanks aren't a luxury. A 80-gallon tank cuts pump cycles by half compared to a 32. [87906]

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Samples Road Closure & Detour 🚧

ARDOT has announced that Samples Road in Saline County will be closed around the clock beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27 through 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 for bridge construction.

The closure will allow crews to replace the existing road to allow traffic on a newly constructed bridge.

🛑 A signed detour route will be in place utilizing Zuber Road and Snow Lane. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

⚠️ Construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place to notify motorists of the closure.
