What Knife manufacturer supports training of apprentice - We Do 💪

In 2025, to date we have donated over 700 Kick Ass Gen 1 Knives to eight (8) JATCs nationwide - we are helping apprentices train safely and effectively.

We’re not done yet. 300 Gen 1 knives are still set aside for training programs across the country.

We created the Kick Ass Knife because Dexter Russell would not listen and upgrade its 1376HB knife for our industry - we will listen and we will make the most productive safety knife for mechanical insulation on the planet that will decrease accidents and pay for itself. The Next Generation 2 Kick Ass Knife was developed based on the feedback of insulators.

Each iteration of the knife will be based on your feedback until hopefully all we hear is that it is the best - hands down.

Upgrades in the Gen 2 Kick Ass Knifethis:
1. Class 1 Rated Tether - heavier duty Lobster clip; & much heavier duty Carabiner with rating link
2. Change in type of Olive Wood - change to imported Tunisian Italian Mediterranean Olive Wood with a Janka hardness index of 2700 - this is nearly as tough as IPE/Brazilian Hardwood which is 3400
3. Flexibility and improved tempering. Thinner blade with increased tempering = Better cutting thru rubber. Same bend as a Dexter 1376HB.
4. Blade Edge - better cut on the metal. most insulators are reporting this new version only needs sharpening once per day.
5. More visible ruler. Bigger numbers!
6. For weight and balance the Dexter 1376 HB is 73 grams which is half tang and this knife with full tang is 85 grams.
