Jenkins Doors and Windows was founded in 1927 when Joe Jenkins purchased Amarillo Mantel Brick and Tile Company. At that time, the company specialized in manufacturing decorative concrete brick and hearth tile used in building fireplaces. Jenkins joined his father in the family business. Together they renamed it Jenkins Brick and Supply and broadened the product line to include metal windows and d
oors, ceramic and acoustic tile, and other specialty building products. In 1947, the business expanded to its current location at 820 SW 6th Avenue. When Joe Jenkins retired in 1959, Al Jenkins assumed leadership and spent the next five decades successfully building on his father’s foundation. During this time, the company’s focus shifted primarily to the residential door and window market. A window manufacturing plant was added in 1962, followed by a pre-hung door facility in 1972. While window production has since ceased, the door plant continues operating, and Jenkins proudly serves as a distributor for some of the nation’s top brands. To better reflect its core business, the company name was changed to Jenkins Doors and Windows in the early 1980s. On April 1, 2000, longtime employee Anthony Ledwig purchased the company from Al Jenkins. Under Anthony’s ownership, Jenkins carried forward its tradition of excellence, providing builders and homeowners with superior products and dependable service. In 2025, Anthony’s son, Chuck Ledwig, purchased the company, marking the next chapter in Jenkins’ nearly century-long story. While Anthony remains an active and valued presence, Chuck now leads the business with the same integrity, work ethic, and customer-first approach instilled in him by his father. From Anthony, Chuck has learned the importance of honest business practices, exceptional customer service, and a deep commitment to relationships—with clients, employees, and the community. With this foundation, Chuck is dedicated to honoring Jenkins’ legacy while continuing to grow and innovate for the future.
