The à la mods Power Supply Family is the most extensive with multiple modules in both the “M & Z Series”.

All of our a la mods Power Supplies have a 7-36VDC standard wall adaptor barrel jack so you have a lot more power cable options. You can even add on a DC Fan pin connector! All of our Power Supplies fit easily on top of a Raspberry Pi or our Embedded Z host Microcontroller and fit inside standard cases.

You now have seen how the ISOIOZ19112 works with other modules to create custom applications and control sensors for automation capabilities. However, that is just one module in the ISOIO series.

Our ISOIO “M Series” allows for more custom controls and can create custom test fixtures, you even have more options of 4 or 8 relays based on how many you need for control. All “M Series” modules come with an Embedded Smart Module on the back of every module. This allows you to stack up to 16 “M series” modules on a single Raspberry Pi.

Some examples of where you would need more relays where the “M series” would be more practical is; industrial applications such as custom test fixtures, Engineering solutions, and rapid system prototyping. Recently we had a new module application be installed at Made to help automate things around their shop. Using a Raspberry Pi and some of our modules we created a custom control application for the SMT conveyor, we call the SMEMA Equipment Diagnostic Simulator.

For this application a Raspberry Pi 3 was used to run the software, our PWRM17225-20W to boost the Pi’s capabilities, and our ISOIOZ19112 to control the SMT Conveyor. The ISOIOZ toggles on/off signals to the conveyor and tells it when to start and stop a PCB board panel’s motions. This allows the panel to stop in it’s appropriate position for the machines to begin placing parts while the Kiosk controls the signals the ISOIOZ module puts out.

After talking about the ISOIO Family we want to showcase our ISOIOZ19112 Dual Relay Module.

We have been talking about where you can purchase our modules but all come as a kit with the appropriate connectors to make starting your projects easier! All ISOIOZ19112 modules comes with a 40 Pin GPIO connector that allows the stacking and functionality with the Raspberry P*s (or our EMBDZ19121). Our Aux Power Bus connector that allows all à la mods modules to communicate with one another. The Dual Opto-Isolated Inputs and Dual Relay Outputs connectors that give you sensor and control capabilities.

Within the à la mods family there are many subfamilies, not only are there the M series and Z series but also families for each type of module.

Our ISOIO Isolated I/O modules come in different sets of relay outputs and opto-isolated inputs based on your type of control needed. The opto-inputs have a range of 5 to 24 Vdc and two fused power/ground output to bias the relays.

An example of when you’d use the ISOIOM17427 would be when you need to control more relays, like for higher density projects where you’d be looking to stack more modules. Where you could use the 2 relays on the ISOIOZ19112 for smaller home automation controls and sensors.

To continue our excitement about our new partnerships, we want to talk about one of our products featured on Digi-Key Electronics

Our EMBDZ19121 is a true embedded microcontroller that is compatible with all the modules in the à la mods family! It is designed to offer an embedded alternative as a host processor for the stacked I/O modules. Along with the ESP32 that provides a well-supported 32 bit MCU with myriad features that make this processing engine a versatile choice for any IoT applications.

It also provides additional functionality to help with rapid application development. This includes a console port that provides a serial console compatible with Arduino Software IDE and powers the module from USB, instead of USBC. There are two buttons for Reset and Booth as well as the 40 pin GPIO header with the same pinout as the Raspberry Pi.

The Embedded Z also ships with the à la mods family basic web app software framework that is set up as a WiFI AP support modern web browser platforms. All wrapped up in a kit to help get your projects started!
