Gem Shavings LLC is a provider of premium wood bedding for the equestrian industry nationally and overseas. We are looking for a highly motivated person to fill the Plant Manager position in our Shelton, Washington location.
The Plant Manager position includes a wide range of responsibilities including meeting daily production needs, managing incoming supply, keeping packaging equipment operational, and leading a production crew. This position will require daily maintenance and repairs to equipment.
Responsibilities include:
• Direct production needs to meet daily and weekly orders
• Maintain plant records of production, inventory, equipment repairs, personnel records and reports
• Communicate daily with management to ensure plant and production needs are met
• Manage day shift and swing shift supervisors and crews; build strong teams to meet production goals
• Ensure team members are sufficiently trained to operate equipment
• Perform repairs and adjustments to equipment when needed; coordinate equipment repairs with vendors when required; and direct crew in maintenance and cleanup of equipment
• Ensure outbound product meets company quality standards
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment ensuring that state, local and company safety standards are followed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Minimum 2-3 years of management and/or supervisory experience
• Welding and cutting knowledge required as well as power and hand tools
• Ability to learn how to operate various types of equipment and system controls
• Forklift knowledge and ability to operate a front-end wheel loader helpful
• Microsoft Word and Excel
• Communicate effectively with management, subordinates and vendors; develop positive working relationships
• Ability to climb stair and ladders; lift up to 60 lbs on occasion
• Ability to be accessible for swing shift communications
The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems; the ability to quickly learn how the packaging equipment and conveying systems operate; and, effectively lead a team.
Job Type: Full Time – Salary / 40 hours +
Pay: $50,000 + depending on experience
Schedule: Monday – Friday / Primarily 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
