This is what it means to Build Better Communities. ❤️
Recently, every member of our Sidney, NY team stayed after work to help restore the community gazebo in the heart of town.
Originally donated by the local Rotary, the gazebo had fallen into disrepair. Our team saw an opportunity to put their time, skills and resources to work, spending more than four hours replacing damaged boards and handrails and staining the structure.
Their efforts quickly caught the community’s attention. A local police officer stopped to lend a hand and made a water run for the crew, while a Rotary member personally thanked the team and took photos of the project.
There is still more work to be done, but the Sidney team is already looking forward to finishing the gazebo. After that, they’ll begin searching for their next opportunity to make a difference.
The project was inspired by a message shared at last year’s Curtis Lumber Summer Workshops. These internal training sessions help our employees build the knowledge and skills needed to deliver the expertise and customer experience people expect from Curtis Lumber. During the workshops, our teams were also reminded why Curtis Lumber exists: to Build Better Communities.
Sidney Branch Manager Bill Cairns and his team took that message to heart and turned it into action. We’re incredibly proud of our Sidney team for showing what Curtis Lumber stands for. Well done, Sidney!
