New in the shop from , these beautifully illustrated cards just landed!

Meet the art of Mattie Rose Templeton! She creates work inspired by the living world around us, exploring our connection to nature, its beauty, its fragility, and our responsibility to care for it. For her, art is a form of visual storytelling, something that can move us beyond the image itself and into a deeper relationship with the places and creatures around us.

That philosophy feels especially beautiful translated onto something as simple and personal as a card. A tiny piece of art you can hold onto, frame, or send off to someone you love. 💌

And we’re especially proud that they’re Maine made.

Filling our shelves with the work of Maine artists, makers, growers, and small businesses is one of our favorite parts of what we do. It keeps creativity moving through the community, puts dollars back into the hands of the people making things here, and helps build the kind of circular local economy we believe in 💪

Erin French’s 2017 cookbook, “The Lost Kitchen: Recipes and a Good Life Found in Freedom, Maine”

Erin grew up in Freedom, Maine, learning her first lessons in the kitchen beside her father at the griddle of his diner. Entirely self-taught, she later built The Lost Kitchen in the very town that raised her, inside a restored 1834 gristmill.

This cookbook carries that story onto the page through 100 seasonal recipes inspired by Maine’s farms, coast, woods, and the rhythms of life here.

It’s part cookbook, part portrait of place, and part reminder that some of the best food stories begin close to home.

We’re especially proud to carry work that celebrates the chefs, restaurants, makers, and small businesses that help shape Maine’s food culture and keep our communities vibrant.

🧢🌲 Let’s talk about

Sunday Lounge is the passion project of Jared Jacob, a freelance graphic designer who has been working creatively since 2003. After years of designing for others, he built something of his own around the things he loves most: clean design, quality materials, and time spent outside.

Each hat starts with one of Jared’s original graphics and is produced in small batches to his specifications. Thoughtful, outdoorsy, easy to wear, and made to hold up wherever you take it.

We’re especially into the Spirit Wing design, made with organic cotton twill, a leather closure, flat brim, and suede under-visor. Not only this design but so many others are available at the shop!

Small brand. Big intention. Made by one person with a clear point of view.

That is why we decided to make space for these at Salsburys.

And with hat season very much happening around here, these feel right at home. ☀️🌿

The MDI Community Market is back at Salsbury’s this Saturday from 9 AM to noon, and the lawn is shaping up to be a really good place to spend the morning.

This week, we’re especially excited to welcome Tigermoth Pottery, created by artists August Rolin and Aimee Hunt at their studio in Surry. Their work blends function and art through porcelain, black stoneware, and terra cotta, and we can’t wait for you to see it in person. 🏺

We’ll also have fresh produce from a local Hull’s Cove farm, including zucchini, green peas, green beans, yellow squash, and more. 🌱🥒

🎻 And yes, the Bluegrass Jam Fam will be there too, filling the market with live music while you shop, wander, and catch up with neighbors.

More vendors may be joining us as well!

🍝✨ The freezer is stocked

We just brought in a fresh restock of handmade pasta from , the Maine father-and-daughter team of Paul and Natalie Beaugard.

Paul learned the craft of pasta and gelato while working with chefs in Italy, then passed that knowledge on to Natalie. Together, they approach food like a workshop, which is fitting because L’Atelier means exactly that. Always learning, experimenting, and making something deeply good by hand.

We’re grateful to carry their small-batch pasta and to support another Maine family business putting real care behind what they make.
