Update from the siding workshop: no one was accidentally nailed to the side of the building, no emergency drywall extractions were needed, and everyone left with all ten fingers. Honestly, that’s the kind of success story we love to see.
A huge thank you to Safrit’s Building Supply and Community Lumber for hosting such a fantastic workshop for our Women Build volunteers and for proving that learning construction skills and eating a great lunch can, in fact, happen at the same time.
Their team walked us through the basics of siding installation, answered every question (even the ones that started with “this may be a dumb question…”), and made sure everyone left feeling more confident and a little more ready to take on the build site.
We’re incredibly grateful for partners like Safrit’s and Community Lumber who make these workshops possible and help turn “I’ve never done this before” into “okay, hand me the nail gun.”
Want to learn new skills without risking becoming part of the building? We’ve still got a few construction workshops coming up—check out the links in the comments and come build with us!
