☀️ Florida in June:
“It’s not even the hot part yet.” 😳

June is basically Florida’s warning shot for what July and August are about to do to us. Right now the heat is just stretching before the main event.

Which means it’s probably time to stock up on one of the strangest things we carry… that somehow actually works:

Bob’s Pickle Pops 🥒❄️

Yep. Frozen pickle juice.
And before you start judging… remember that a leg cramp can humble a grown adult faster than stepping on a Lego in the dark.

These things are made to help prevent & relieve cramps fast, which is why they’ve become a favorite for:

🎣 Fishing trips
🛠️ Job sites
🌱 Yard work
🚜 Tractors with “good airflow” (also known as no cab)
🔥 Anybody trying to survive a Florida summer with dignity intact

The best part? They start as frozen ice pops… then after about 9 seconds outside they become a cold pouch of pickle juice because apparently even the pops know it’s Florida. 😅

Laugh if you want… but when July shows up acting disrespectful, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Bob’s Pickle Pops — because June is just the trailer for the real horror movie. 😎

⚠️ Disclaimer: Pickle Pops are sold liquid. Turning them into Pickle Pops is a DIY project. We are a hardware store, not a cryogenics lab, after all. 😎

Father’s Day is just a few weeks away… and let’s be honest…

Dad doesn’t need another tie.
Dad needs a new drill.
Or a pocket knife.
Or a flashlight.
Or a cap with camo on it.
Or one of those patriotic or inspirational shirts he’ll wear so much Mom eventually threatens to throw it away.

We’ve got tools, hardware, power tools, flashlights, caps, patriotic and inspirational shirts, and enough “dad stuff” to keep him wandering the aisles like it’s a vacation destination.

And if you truly have no idea what to get him… gift certificates still work better than socks.

Helping dads justify “one quick trip to the hardware store” since 1979.

School’s out for the summer.
Families are heading on vacation.
Churches are gearing up for Vacation Bible School.
Kids are sleeping till noon like it’s their full-time job.

And us?

We’re still here every morning… except Sundays and major holidays. 😎

Still opening the doors.
Still loading lumber.
Still mixing paint.
Still helping folks find plumbing parts they can’t describe without using hand motions.

Whether you’re fixing things before company arrives, building something during your “time off,” or discovering that summer projects somehow multiply overnight… we’ve got the stuff you need.

Gilchrist Building Supply — serving the community since 1979 and helping you survive summer one project at a time.

Nothing tests a relationship, a back, or your patience quite like a Saturday project.

One minute you’re “just tightening a screw.”
Next thing you know you’re buying lumber, PVC fittings, mulch, paint, a new shovel, and explaining why the water is turned off to the whole house.

That’s alright.
We’ve been helping North Florida survive weekends like this since 1979.

Come see us at Gilchrist Building Supply.
Friendly people, real customer service, and enough supplies to turn “this should be easy” into a full-day adventure.

Just remember…
we close at 3:00 PM.

You know you’re getting older and more country when a good barrel starts looking exciting 😄

Twenty years ago it was sports cars and big plans.
Now it’s:
“Look at that removable lid…” 👀

55-gallon metal barrel with removable lid and plastic barrel is $25
Pickle barrel with lid is $40 🥒

And honestly, they’re useful.
Rainwater, feed, trash, storage, burn barrels, shop use, animal feed, deer corn, dog food… these things earn their keep fast.

Plus there’s just something satisfying about owning a barrel.
Makes you feel one step closer to having your life together. 😂

MEMORIAL DAY

Today we remember the men and women who gave everything for this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their sacrifice is far greater than words, sales, cookouts, or long weekends.

We honor not only those lost on the battlefield, but also those who carried the scars of war home with them — including the veterans whose lives were later claimed by illnesses, injuries, and burdens connected to their service.

Freedom has always come at a cost, and many families continue to live with that sacrifice long after the fighting ends.

As you spend time with family, fire up the grill, work around the house, or simply enjoy a slower day… take a moment to remember why this day exists.

From all of us at Gilchrist Building Supply — thank you to our fallen heroes, our veterans, and the families who have carried the weight of service and sacrifice. May God bless them all, and may God bless America.

We will be closed on Monday, May 24th, in observance of Memorial Day. See you on Tuesday!

Apparently if we don’t post for a while, people start thinking we disappeared. 😅

Nope.
Still here.
Still family owned since 1979.
Still loading lumber in the yard instead of making you drag it across a parking lot by yourself like an Olympic event.

And for the folks who still think we’re “just a little hardware store”…

There’s a whole world hiding in and around this building:
Lumber. Mulch. River rock. Patio stone. Pool supplies. Plumbing. Electrical. Doors. Windows. Fertilizer. Tools. Grills. Propane. Paint. Hardware. And enough random stuff to fix problems you haven’t even caused yet.

Honestly, some of y’all drive to Gainesville, fight traffic, wander around a giant warehouse for two hours… while we’re right here in Bell asking, “What are you working on?”

Come see us.
We’ve probably got it.
And if not, at least somebody will laugh with you about the project.
After all, a 3-day weekend is just a fancy way of saying:
“You now have extra time to start another project.” 😂
