As shared by the Law Enforcement Division - Georgia DNR, South Georgia continues to face devastating wildfires impacting multiple communities.
The Pineland Fire (Clinch County), which began on April 18, has burned over 32,000 acres and is currently 10% contained.
The Hwy 82 Fire (Brantley County), starting April 21, has burned over 22,000 acres, is 6% contained, and has resulted in the loss of more than 60 residences.
These fires are impacting our community close to home. Members of our team have been displaced, while others are serving as volunteer firefighters working long, demanding shifts on the front lines before returning to their regular roles.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Georgia Forestry Commission, DNR Law Enforcement, Wildlife Resources Division, and all first responders working tirelessly to contain these fires and protect our communities.
Our thoughts and prayers are with every family affected.
We stand with our community.
