Welcome to 1170 and 1200 Hancock Street, two Quincy addresses with a LOT going on – all of it architecturally gorgeous. One building includes a restored Masonic temple, while the other is a new build. The architects selected masonry products to match the historic vibe: Interstate Brick's Ashe Matte (modular size), along with Morning Mist (modular size) and Silverstone Gray Western (modular size) from Glen-Gery's Sioux City collection.

For Keena Robinson, Architectural Sales Representative at Consolidated Brick, the masonry industry is about more than bricks and stones – although she does love walking through a jobsite. It’s about people and relationships.

Here’s Keena in her own words:

“This industry runs on relationships, trust, and follow-through. Every day, I get to collaborate with talented professionals who care deeply about quality and doing right by the customer. When we help solve problems, anticipate challenges, and make our partners’ jobs easier, the results naturally follow…. There’s something special about watching months (sometimes years!) of coordination turn into a finished space the community will use for decades.”

Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Liberty-Energy & Water Company building in Merrick, NY – and then focus on a particular feature: The one-piece structural cast stones at the garage entrances. Those massive units (from Great Lakes Stone) support the weight of the entire brick wall above them – and after more than 20 years, there’s not a single stress crack on display. Now THAT’S what we call resilience!

The bricks themselves are also holding up nicely – a stylish blend from McNear Brick & Block.

Just a stone’s throw from the Charles River, the new apartment building at 365 Western Ave boasts a very Bostonian sort of understated beauty – and the bricks (from Watsontown Brick) are largely responsible. Notice how the “Pewter Frost Matt” color creates a delightfully subdued dazzle.

These photos show the Beacon Apartments (Newtonville, MA) in the shade and in the light, displaying just how dynamic Arriscraft Linear Series Brick (Midnight Grey color) can be. Each brick also has a random length of up to 23 ⅝’’, a fascinating detail that adds an additional layer of visual appeal.

Paul Carey isn’t just the president of Consolidated Brick – masonry is in his blood. His parents, Richard and Mary Carey, founded the business in 1968, and Paul has been involved for 35 years.

Here’s Paul in his own words, describing what the company means to him:

“From a pre-teen cleaning the office to the President of Consolidated Brick, it has been an honor to be a part of this company, and I am more than grateful to be able to carry on my parents’ legacy. I have been so lucky to have such dedicated employees, trusted suppliers, and loyal customers, making it possible to carry out our mission and conduct our business with integrity. The future looks bright with our growing workforce, innovative manufacturing techniques, and sustainable products; I look forward to growing our project portfolio for many years to come.”

Since the Aug. 2025 ribbon-cutting, students at Rogers High School in Newport, RI, have enjoyed a dazzling new building. Notice the school’s refined, velvety appearance. That comes from the “velour” texture of the selected bricks – “Vintage Black Velour” and “Stonington Gray Velour” from Glen-Gery.
