Two years on the house and this thermally modified hemlock is still looking sharp.

The siding was installed horizontally with a rainscreen behind it, creating a clean exterior while giving the wood the right conditions to perform.

This is the kind of project we like to see years later.

Interiors that breathe.

Even finished in black, wood siding should still show its character. That sounds obvious, but it changes the way the finished surface feels.

Delta Black gives Lunawood Spruce the color and presence, while the grain gives you something to see when the light hits it differently.

Sometimes the best thing you can do with wood is let people see it.

Let the grain show.
Let the color vary.
Let the texture do its thing.

When the material has that much going on naturally, it doesn’t need much help.

Wood belongs in all kinds of climates. The desert asks something different of a material than the coast does, and a mountain project has its own set of conditions. That’s where the right material starts to matter.

A lot of people hear Shou Sugi Ban and picture black wood. But it’s actually a whole spectrum of color and texture. The char can be pushed in different directions to create finishes that range from deep black to warmer, more natural tones.

There’s a lot we want to make. Delta 2.0 is going to give us the space to make more of it. More capacity, more flexibility, and more room to keep developing our products.

And all that land isn’t so bad to look at either. We’re so excited for this next chapter.

Terry Black’s Houston called for a charred wood exterior with plenty of warmth and natural variation. We supplied Western Red Cedar Shou Sugi Ban in our Kodiak finish, allowing the knots and grain of each board to show through the char and bring some of that cedar character to the facade.

The board and batten profile also called for some custom milling on our end. We precision milled the 1x10 boards and 1x4 battens to work together creating a consistent pattern across the exterior while keeping the natural variation of the wood in view.
